Great Wine Capitals 2014-2015 research grants

Great Wine Capitals, capitals and large vineyards network launches the seventh edition of its annual International Research Fellowship of wine tourism or Marketing of wine, to promote excellence and innovation in the research of wine tourism.

in total will be awarded two scholarships of 4,500 euros each for projects related to economic, environmental, sustainability and social equity, the wine and tourism marketing of the regions belonging to the network Great Wine Capitals (Bilbao-Rioja, Bordeaux, Florence, Mainz, Cape Town, Mendoza, Porto, San Francisco-Napa Valley, Christ-Church and Valparaíso)

students and young researchers will compete in Bilbao-Rioja; later, the local winners will compete with candidates from other cities members of the GWC.

the international jury will select the two best research projects whose authors will be able to personally present the results to the Assembly General of the network Great Wine Capitals during the annual General meeting in Bilbao-Rioja in November of 2015.

final winners will get two scholarships of 4,500 euros, 2,000 euros will be paid to the student / young investigator after the process of selection and 2,500 euros will be paid when the student / researcher to present the result of its work in a final report.

winners must submit three reports:

– an interim report in English of a maximum of 1,000 words, must be sent to the Coordinator of the Committee on education and research and the local representative of the GWC before 1 June 2015.

– a final report of not less than 10,000 words that can be written in the following languages: English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Portuguese. It must be sent to the Coordinator before the 1 October 2015.

– an Executive report of up to 5,000 words (not less than 3,000 words).

winners will receive Additionally 500 euros for travel and accommodation expenses to present their project at the annual General meeting. The oral presentation should be done in English, without exceptions.

can apply for these scholarships students and young researchers who have completed their studies during the last five years, are employed as researchers (postdoctoral fellow or otherwise) or academic (Professor, for example) in an institution of higher education or other recognized research institution.

group projects are allowed, but must be chosen the leader of the team.

the applicant must be enrolled as a student in an educational program (for example, degree or masters) or as a young researcher in a program either pre-or postdoctoral fellow.

all research proposals will be considered based on the following aspects:

– what applicability is the subject for the GWC network and add value to tourism and wine

– portability for all the wine regions of the GWC

– academic Rigor of the proposal.

requests will be evaluated by the members of the Committee of education and research of the GWC network based on the following criteria:

• originality and innovation (20%)

• importance / implications for theory and practice (20%)

• conceptual Rigor (20%)

• adequate application of the methodology (20%)

• potential impact for the Great Wine Capitals Network (20%)
